Episode 17: Why You Need a Jeep at Deer Camp

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

"While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about."

-Angela Schwindt

In Episode 17, we return to Cedar Creek, Missouri, for our annual family deer camp. This is a time of year we always set aside to get together. No matter what is going on in our lives we can always say "see you at deer season" and know we can count on it.

We set up camp on Friday and had time to hang out with family and friends around the camp fire. Too early the next morning, Ben and Connor went out for the "serious" hunt.

This is the hunt Clara and I aren't a part of because she likes to talk too much and I like to sleep in too much. Thanks to the guys getting this great video footage, we didn't miss out on these beautiful views.

We love having a Jeep out here because it allows us to get everywhere we want to be. Down the trails, on the road, and hauling the occasional deer.

Of course, the reason deer camp is so important to our family is for the memories. Our kids have been out here every year since they were born. They'll grow up with these hills and creeks a part of them and with the memories of times here with their family.

Clara and I went out for the afternoon hunt. We really didn't expect to see much with Clara and I tromping through the leaves behind our fearless leader...

but after sitting for only about 20 minutes, we heard a shot close by up the hill where Ben's dad and brother were set up.

Nick's Cowdaddy Jeep came in handy for getting the deer out without too much trouble. (Check out an overview of this machine here).

We all had an incredible time at deer camp this year. We are so blessed to have such an amazing family to make these memories and spend this time with. See you at deer season!
