Roam Adventure Co Roof Top Tent -- Was it Worth It?

A few weeks ago, we installed our new Roam Vagabond Roof Top Tent. After taking our first overloading trip in the tent, we are ready to give you our first impressions.

This post will cover:

Where you can get a Roam Roof Top Tent.

What we like about our tent so far.

Our concerns with our tent so far.

Was the tent worth the price?

Where can you get a Roam Roof Top Tent?

We got our Vagabond tent and annex directly from the Roam Adventure Co website.

We also use the Disc-O-Bed Kid-O-Bunk beds to set up in the annex section to accommodate our two kids.

For our winter camping, we have been using the Dewalt Portable Heater in the annex section of our tent.

What we like about the Roam Vagabond Roof Top Tent

1. Comfort- Sleeping in the roof top tent was much more comfortable than sleeping in a ground tent. The foam mattress that comes standard with these tents was so comfortable. We slept better in this tent than in any other

tent set up we have had before.

2. Convenience- Having our sleeping bag and pillows in the tent and ready to go means that we can set up camp quickly even in less than ideal circumstances.

3. Quality- The tent feels very sturdy, and all the pieces fit together well. This makes set up and tear down easier and gives you a sense that the tent will last a long time.

4. Experience- All of the little details Roam has included in their tent help to make the experience of using this tent much different than other ways we have camped. The multiple windows including the skylight keep you connected with your surroundings while being elevated gives you a sense of security. The storage areas included in the tent made it easy to organize everything we needed even when camping in the tent with 5 people.

Our Initial Concerns

Our only real concern so far is that we have found two holes in the annex section of our tent. We have taken down and set up this tent a total of maybe 5 times and have only camped 2 nights in it. We have reported this issue to Roam and will update this if they have a solution for us.

Our Jeep does have a lift, so our annex does not lay completely flat. Roam has an extensions available that would add 12 inches of height to the tent. This isn't really a problem, but is something we didn't think about before that we were initially concerned about.

Was it Worth the Price?

Overall, we are very happy with the Roam Vagabond tent. The process of setting up and tearing down the tent got easier and faster each time we worked with it. The quality of the materials is wonderful (though we have some concerns with the annex). The comfort and convince the tent provided for our family was absolutely worth the price for us!
